Coffee Isn’t Just For Drinking- Now You Can Eat Your Coffee Too!

While most people are content sipping their favourite coffee drink, others want to take their coffee experience to the next level and are beginning to create new and innovative recipes which use coffee as the main ingredient. Imagine having the bold taste of your favourite espresso roast complementing a tender, juicy steak. Or the sweet, chocolatey taste of a mocha on your birthday cake. These are just two examples of what coffee lovers are doing when they reach for their Nespresso compatible coffee capsules and start cooking.

New Ways Of Using Coffee In The Kitchen

Whether you drink coffee every day, or you are an occasional coffee drinker, there is no denying the incredible flavour and aroma of the world’s most popular beverage. Coffee is enjoyed by more people around the world than any other beverage, and that includes tea! Now, coffee lovers are using coffee in a whole new way and making marinades, desserts, even party mixers out of it. Let’s take a look at a couple of our favourite recipes which make use of coffee.

Coffee Vinaigrette:

  • 1 grams of ground black pepper
  • 1 grams of ground sea salt
  • 14ml of honey
  • 5 deciliters of sherry vinegar
  • 1 deciliter of filter coffee or coffee made using recycled coffee pods
  • 2 deciliters of canola oil
  • 2 deciliters of olive oil
  • fresh mint or fresh flat leaf parsley

Add all ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend. Pour over your favourite salad or use as a marinade for meats and vegetables.

Coffee Glazed Bacon:

  • 400 g cooked, smoked bacon
  • 2 deciliters of espresso coffee from Nespresso compatible coffee pods
  • 1 deciliter of maple syrup
  • 1 deciliter of cane sugar

Heat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius and place the bacon in a single layer on a baking tray.

Mix the coffee, syrup and sugar together and brush on top of the slices.

Roast the bacon for 5 minutes and flip upside down, brushing the mixture on the other side and roasting for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.

While serving these delicious coffee inspired dishes, be sure to set aside some organic coffee capsules so you can serve your guests a fresh, hot cup of coffee while they treat their taste buds to something new!
